Regarding the Extension Period of the Participation in Rites and Eucharistic Celebrations Broadcast “Online” during the COVID-19 Outbreak

 

Following the government’s decree that placed the entire nation under the state of emergency and the announcement of the extension of its enforcement for another month from 1 – 31 May 2020 by requesting the populace to “stay at home, stop the spread of the virus for the sake of our country” in order to prevent the further outbreak of COVID-19.

The Chiang Mai Diocese is issuing this announcement to all priests, men and women religious and brothers and sisters in faith in the entire Diocese to conform accordingly:

  1. We request every parish to release an announcement to its parishioners urging them to seriously cooperate with the decrees issued by the government, the provincial governor, etc. for the common good;
  2.  All religious rites and Eucharistic celebrations are suspended on weekdays as well as weekends. However, everyone is encouraged to continue to participate in the religious rites through “online” media until 31 May 2020;
  3. We encourage every family to pray the Holy Rosary together or individually as proposed by His Holiness Pope Francis;
  4. During the Laudato Si’ Week (from 16 to 24 May 2020) and on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si’ regarding the care and preservation of the environment and the planet, which is our common home, we invite everyone and every family to plant a tree and/or preserve nature surrounding your home as you may deem appropriate and convenient.

Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Francis Xavier, may God protect and safeguard us against all various physical and spiritual diseases.
